Main Responsibilities

Principal Designer

Lead architect in charge of the Design of main areas and features from Stage 0 – 3 reporting to Jacobs and Shell managers. Managing a team of drafters and consultants

Shell headquarters in The Hague are in a massive listed building currently under complete refurbishment. Jacobs was involved on the Inspection and revision of the Refurbishment project documents including the Design documents and Design developments of some areas like the roof canopy of the main Courtyard also its interiors.  I was involved in the Design of the main areas of the project from the concept stage as Lead Designer. There are two courtyards integrated in a larger building which interior has different functions.

My project scope was to propose ideas of the courtyard and other areas from concept to technical design stage.

In this portfolio I show also an architectural structure I designed as part of the features to be included into the building main courtyard which I designed from concept to detail. The project process was not easy as there were many constrains on fire regulations, Municipality conditions for the listed buildings, Mechanical and structural, cleaning systems, Company rules and sustainability. All conditions were achieved, and the project went ahead

Managed the full Design Process as Design leader

Developed also design of furniture and all objects included in the proposal from conception to detail design

The Design proposal was well received from a very early stage and widely acclaimed by several Shell managers decision makers worldwide (prior my intervention, during over 5 years, the client had rejected other designers' options)

As a consequence, Shell eventually appointed Jacobs to continue developing my proposal project

All conditions were achieved, and the project went ahead on schedule despite several resources and design constrains (fire regulations, Municipality conditions for the listed buildings, Mechanical and structural, cleaning systems, Company rules and LEED requirements).

Led a small design team of architects and several consultants, while reporting directly to Jacobs and Shell directors.
